For example, the pilot project at Justus Liebig University in Giessen (TATBC—“Together Against Tuberculosis”) was launched in 2017, in which medical students work closely with the local public health department, hospitals, and private practitioners to support TB patients throughout their entire course of treatment. Both in Giessen and in the subsequent partner projects in Würzburg, Heidelberg, and Dresden, the goal of ensuring that all patients under care completed their treatment was achieved in most cases.
