Work package

Training and further education

Practical offers

Successful treatment of tuberculosis requires more than just medical knowledge. It requires an understanding of the many challenges that patients face during their long treatment period. The No1Lost project is creating practical training and further education opportunities for all players in the healthcare sector that focus on this socio-medical dimension.

The content will deliberately go beyond the medical perspective. The focus will be on topics that are crucial for holistic care, such as

  • Health equity: How do we create equal opportunities for successful TB treatment - regardless of origin or social situation?
  • Socio-medical analysis: creating an understanding of complex life situations with and without a migration background. In doing so, we train the eye for social, legal and personal factors that can influence therapy.
  • Language and cultural mediation: Developing skills in dealing with language and cultural barriers in order to strengthen trust between doctors and patients.

During the project period, a curriculum will be developed that focuses on these and other aspects of social medicine. This module can be integrated into the further training of medical professionals. Depending on demand and availability, the No1Lost competence network will provide experienced speakers who will present social medicine content in further training courses in which these therapy-relevant aspects are to be promoted. In terms of network formation, intensive cooperation is planned with established institutions for further training in the relevant areas of care.

With this approach, we are strengthening the socio-medical skills of healthcare providers in the healthcare system. The aim of this work package is to promote culturally sensitive and holistic care for people with tuberculosis in Germany in order to meet individual needs and prevent treatment discontinuation.
