As a patient with regular statutory health insurance, you must pay a copayment for TB medications, just as you do for all other medications. Children and adolescents are exempt from the copayment. The out-of-pocket maximum for copayments is two percent of gross income; for people with chronic illnesses, it is one percent. This calculation also includes the copayment for inpatient treatment and the copayment for medical supplies and home health care. Once this copayment cap is reached, you may apply to your health insurance provider for an exemption for the current calendar year.
