To establish an effective local network for tuberculosis case management, close coordination among various stakeholders is essential. At the core of this network are medical institutions such as public health departments—particularly the tuberculosis care service—private pulmonologists or ASV outpatient clinics, specialized hospitals, and outpatient nursing services. These are supplemented by experts in social work, such as those from migration counseling, homeless assistance, or general social counseling centers. The broader network also includes government agencies (Immigration Office, Social Welfare Offices), with which solutions must be found in cases of unclear financing of treatment costs and issues related to residency status.
Ideally, a “case manager”—such as a social worker from the public health department—should take responsibility for the affected individual, build a relationship of trust with them, and maintain communication within the network.
