Video-Supported Therapy (VST) can help people with tuberculosis take their medication, especially when Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) provided by public health authorities or local care services is not possible, or is not desired or reasonable for the patient. Patients generally need to have their own devices (such as basic smartphones or tablets) for this purpose; these are not provided as medical aids. However, VST or DOT is not a social medical aid. These technical or video-assisted support options are used to monitor medication adherence in order to identify any issues with taking medication. VST or DOT should be accompanied by social medical support.
