Case conference

Networking and social medicine in focus

Preparatory work for the No1Lost project has shown that exchange within networks is of decisive importance for successful tuberculosis treatment. Fortunately, tuberculosis has become rare in Germany, which is why sufficient experience in dealing with complex cases can now only be gathered in specialized treatment centers. At the same time, the complex management of tuberculosis therapy requires an interdisciplinary team that contributes expertise from various fields. In this context, not only medical expertise from different disciplines is necessary. Social-medical challenges and needs often take center stage and represent a significant barrier to regular medication intake.

With the case conference of the No1Lost competence network, the aim is to create an opportunity to exchange information on individual tuberculosis cases within a structured framework in which social medicine is at the center. For this purpose, an interdisciplinary team of experts will be available that, in addition to guideline-based therapy, also brings extensive experience in the individual support and therapy accompaniment of people with tuberculosis.

The offering is aimed in particular at cases in which the local treatment environment and the available structures reach their limits and treatment discontinuation is considered likely. For these challenging cases, the case conference is to be made available nationwide so that, in line with the project’s motto No1Lost, as many people with tuberculosis as possible can be supported in completing their therapy successfully.
