New therapy recommendations for drug-resistant tuberculosis
4.11.2025
In April of this year, the WHO published new recommendations for the treatment of rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis, through which further combination therapies can be offered to shorten the therapy to 6-9 months. The recommendations have now been translated into German and summarized by the guideline authors for treatment in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The publication is now freely available in the journal Pneumologie online-first and thus replaces the amendment to the S2k guideline on tuberculosis in adults published in 2022. A complete revision of the S2k guideline is planned by 2027.
