Ethambutol 400 mg is available again

22.6.2026

According to information from pharmacies, the drug ethambutol in the 400 mg dosage is once again available for the treatment of tuberculosis. The official information platform PharmNet.Bund confirms this information. However, according to this information, the known supply problem with the 100 mg and 500 mg dosages will continue through August 2026.

With the 400 mg dosage, a solution should generally be found for body weight-adjusted dosing. It is therefore recommended to resume standard therapy using the guideline-recommended four-drug combination (rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol). Contrary to the information in our dosage calculator, the division of ethambutol tablets must be adjusted to reflect current availability.
